  • A New Year

I’ve never been big on New Year’s resolutions, and I even told someone I didn’t feel like I needed any because I’ve already been on a healthy path for a while. But I can’t honestly say I don’t have room for improvement, and I’ve realized I do have some goals I’d like to accomplish in 2025.

    Website

Well, I’ve made this new site, but I really haven’t put much effort into it at the moment. I would like to blog with some regularity, but I know right now I would rather write as I feel inspired than commit to a specific schedule. I do have more inspiration already, but I don’t have time to start it just yet.

It also doesn’t really feel like my site yet, because I haven’t designed and coded it from scratch. Yet. Web technology has changed considerably since I designed my old site, and even then my knowledge and skill were lacking. It’s going to take some work and education, but this is a challenge I very much want to tackle.

Speaking of my old website… Well, I would love to revive it in 2025, but I don’t know if the stars will align for that.

    Build a New PC

I’ve replaced a few parts, but I’ve never built an entire PC from scratch before. I don’t exactly have the knowledge for it, as of this writing, but I would love to learn. I would also wanna go with a powerful video card and processor for gaming and video editing, and that’s not quite in my budget right now. But if I can save up enough for all the parts, I think I can gain the skills to assemble them.

    Reading

I love to sit down and engross myself in a good book, and there are so many options of interest to me. The problem is that I do it so rarely compared to TV and movies. I want to make this into a serious habit and work it into my daily routine. Someone once told me that if it’s really important to you, you can make time for it, and I’ve had that success in other areas. Such as…

    Exercise

There have been ups and downs, but working out and staying active has become an important part of my life over the last year. I do make time for it, but I also want to keep improving and challenging myself. Increasing my reps means dedicating more time per workout, and that will become a problem. So I want to figure out ways that I could break things up without losing progress, recovery time, or sleep.

    Food

I’ve been eating almost the exact same thing every day for months now, both for simplicity, and for the math I’ve done about my nutritional needs. But I want to change things up a bit. I don’t eat enough greens, and there are some ingredients I’d like to try making from scratch. Cooking is also a big hobby of mine, and I kinda miss trying new recipes. I want to see if I can find efficient ways of making these changes.

    Gaming

I could easily allow myself to sit and play a video game for hours and hours every day. But that kind of dedication has typically meant neglecting something else for me. In recent years I’ve been going months without playing anything, and I think that’s too far into the other extreme.

So for 2025, I want to find a happy medium. I think playing through one game per month is reasonable, and I’ve already gotten 100% completion in my January game. Some games are longer or harder than others, of course, so maybe it will just have to average out to 11 more games this year.

    Scissors

I just need a new pair of scissors for trimming my hair. The only real hurdle here is that I want to check stores I don’t normally shop at for a slightly higher quality pair. And I hope I remember to do that the next time I need new sunglasses, too.
